In love with dining out – Madrid
La Gabinoteca is the hip grandson of the traditional tapas restaurant La Ancha. The owners, well known because of their famous omelettes, opened La Gabinoteca as a casual up-to-date tapas bar in Chamberí.
The menu is divided on 3 sections, to compose your own menu by choosing 3 small plates, some of them are enough to share.
For example, you can choose Ropa vieja gyozas, tasty, dainty dough, juicy.
Then Taco pato, crispy duck and caramelized onion. Or the great Bao con albóndigas marranas (pork meatballs).
And Carrillera al estilo de Nino, a traditional dish but extremely good: tender meat, flavoursome and cooked to perfection with mashed potatoes and fried leek.
You may prefer some fish, so choose the Pez mantequilla a la bilbaína (butterfish sauteed with olive oil and garlic) or the Pulpo churruscadito (crispy grilled octopus).
The restaurant has 3 lounges, its pretty big, great big tables if you go with a group of friends to have some fun. They only book tables for lunch.
